Nashville Tennessee Makes Top Ten List
Recently Inman News named Nashville and the surrounding cities of Murfreesboro and Franklin as the 10th best market for real estate agents. The Nashville area saw 1 sale for every 66 people between June 2010 and May 2011, compared to 88 at the national level. Realtors each averaged 4.1 sales and $598,966 in total dollar volume in sales in the Nashville metro area. The market is still adjusting. The median sales price in Nashville Metro was $144,900 in May, a 5.4 percent decrease from May 2010. The unemployment rate in Nashville Metro was 9 percent in June 2011, just below the national rate of 9.3 percent. The Nashville area's foreclosure rate was relatively low in the second quarter: 1 in 306 homes received a foreclosure filing. One favorable sign for the market is population growth. The Nashville area's population grew 21.1 percent from 2000-10, to 1.6 million, and is expected to rise another 18.1 percent by 2020.
