Is Nashville the Next Boom Town

In a recent Forbes article, Nashville, TN was ranked no. 3 in a poll to determine what cities are best positioned to grow and prosper in the coming decade. Some of the major reasons given for Nashville's ranking are low housing prices, a pro-business environment, and has experienced rapid growth in educated migrants, where it ranks an impressive fourth in terms of percentage growth. Also, new ethnic groups, such as Latinos and Asians, have doubled in size over the past decade. Another big reason for the no. 3 ranking is that Nashville has a mild climate and is smaller in scale to major metropolitan areas like Chicago or New York. Even with population growth, Nashville does not suffer the persistent transportation bottlenecks that strangle the older growth cities. At the same time, cities like Nashville are building the infrastructure, roads, and cultural institutions critical to future growth.
